A Trip to Marbel

It's been a very long time since I came back to my father's hometown, Marbel, South Cotabato. It’s a four-hour trip from Davao with a lot of beautiful scenery along the road which include lots of mountains, lush forests and green plantations, and did I mention lots of mountains? hehe. Breathtaking landscapes and zigzagging roads made the long trip eventful and somehow bearable.

I really love being in Marbel because I love nature and the laid-back country lifestyle. It’s a big contrast to the busy city life I am used to. The breeze in the evening is so relaxing and cold. You can also see more stars at night compared to Davao’s night sky. It’s far quieter than the busy city streets and the people are very hospitable, warm and friendly. Plus, there are a lot of stunning places you can visit in Marbel.

It’s also been a while since I've seen my grandmother. She celebrated her 90th birthday at the time we were there. That event was the perfect time for a family reunion. I love the local foods especially Tinolang Native na manok, it's simply delicious!

My father's hometown will always have a special place in my heart. I may run out of words to express what I feel, but, Marbel will always be special. I guess it’s true what people say, home is where the heart is.
